Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a genetic disorder characterized by the growth of numerous cysts in the kidneys.It is a disorder in which clusters of cysts develop primarily within your kidneys. The Kidneys are two organs, each about the size of a fist, located in the upper part of a person’s abdomen, toward the back. The kidneys filter wastes and extra fluid from the blood to form urine.When cysts form in the kidneys, they are filled with fluid. Polycystic Kidney Disease(PKD) cysts can profoundly enlarge the kidneys while replacing much of the normal structure, resulting in reduced renal function and leading to Renal failure.

Polycystic kidney disease(PKD) not limited to
your kidneys, although the kidneys usually are the most severely affected organs. The disease can cause cysts to develop in your body.

There were significant differences in the severity of the PKD, many are preventable, good lifestyle, and medical treatment will help  reduce damage to your kidneys from complications.

  1. Is PKD one or many types and forms? Are all types hereditary? How to be sure that it is PKD and not other condition? Is this one of many autoimmune diseases? Do we know the mechanism of cyst forming? Is this mechanism possible to be controlled by medicines?
